He has not just played as the attacking midfielder, he has been used as the left-winger and the right-winger regularly too. He’s often played as a central midfielder, getting one goal and one assist while playing there for the London-based side.
Playing out wide has allowed Eze to use his ability on the ball very well. His pace and quickness has come to the fore, as the Nigerian completes 3.02 dribbles per 90 minutes for the club. He carries a solid dribbling accuracy of 61.5 percent- something which shows how good he is at taking defenders on and beating them.
His pace complements his ability to set others up well. As a result, he creates 1.92 chances per game for the Loftus Road-based outfit. He’s played the highest number of key passes per game for the side and it shows how he does have a final product in his approach to the game.
All this points to how Eze has a bright future. QPR boss Mark Warburton recently spoke of the player at the end of 2019.
He told QPRTV: “There are no limits for Eze. It is down to him and how hard he works. Ebe is a tremendous talent. I want him to enjoy his football and he has got to understand how much hard work is required to maximise the talent that he has.”
That is reflected by how Eze has been the club’s best player at the age of 21 only. Like it was for Bowen, this is Eze’s third season with QPR but this is turning out to be his best season in the club’s shirt. Last season had seen him contribute to just eight goals in 42 games and it was even lower in the 2017-18 season.
That is clear proof of how Eze has come of age this season and has come leaps and bounds with growing time. If one takes his goals and assists out of the current QPR team, they could easily be around the relegation zone. But Eze’s goal contributions and overall approach has made them reach midtable and pick up crucial wins over Leeds and Preston.
QPR might not like it without Eze. But considering he has been at the club for a good while and is into his third season now, time could be right for them to part ways. Like Bowen, clubs will be after the 21-year-old and it will be tough for him to turn them down.
