We look at a few stats to predict the match.
After a slump in form midway, Blackburn Rovers have bounced back to winning ways with two consecutive wins against Reading and Derby County. This has seen them move up to seventh in the league with 23 points in their tally. Tony Mowbray and his men would want to build on their positive run of form and compete for the playoffs qualification spots. A win over Fulham would certainly boast a lot of confidence and ease their way for it.
Blackburn are one of the best attacking sides in the league, scoring 25 goals, yet from an xG of 21.84, which is on the higher side of the league average, and have overperformed their metric. Benjamin Brereton has been their most threatening player with 12 goals, the second-highest in the league. They have not had any struggles so far in scoring goals while also having a formidable defense at the back who have let in only 18 goals, conceding just once in the last two matches.
Since their loss to Coventry City back in early October, Fulham have been the most improved side in the League. They have won four matches on the trot after that and have climbed their way back up to second in the table with 32 points. Marco Silva’s men come into the match on the back of a 3-0 victory over fellow promotion rivals, West Brom, and it is bound to boost their morale. They would look to win against Blackburn and extend their unbeaten run, in turn increasing their promotion chances.
The Cottagers are by far the best attacking side in the division. They have scored a total of 36 goals in 15 matches from an xG of 33.92, the highest in the league. Fulham have even overperformed such a high xG by nearly two goals. They have scored 11 goals in the last four matches and are in red-hot form in front of the goal. In addition to that, Fulham also have one of the best defenses in the league, conceding just 14 goals, registering three back-to-back clean sheets recently, having let in only one goal in the last four games. Aleksander Mitrovic has been in the form of his life, with 18 goals, he is the highest goal-scorer in the division and has scored 50% of Fulham’s goals so far.
Fulham are a side who love to dominate possession. They look to pass around the ball a lot while creating their chances and have the most positional attacks with shots in the league, with 149. They are dangerous when they get inside the final third of the pitch and have been able to break down almost all of the defenses they have faced.
Blackburn Rovers are quite the opposite from their counterparts. They have the fourth-lowest positional attacks in the league and look to hit the opponents on counters. It is going to be an interesting match-up between two contrasting playing styles and a clash between the two best forwards in the league.
We predict a 1-3 victory for Fulham.
