EFL Championship Preview : West Bromwich Albion vs Milwall Stats

Millwall travel to The Hawthorns this Saturday to face West Bromwich Albion for the Matchday 6 of the EFL Championship 2021-22 season.

Will they be able to come out on top? We look at a few stats to predict the game.

West Bromwich Albion have had a great kick start to this season where they would look to gain promotion back to the Premier League. They currently sit in second in the table behind Fulham, just on goal difference. West Brom have won all of their last four games after starting the season with a draw against AFC Bournemouth. Valerien Ismael’s men would want to go to the top of the table with another win against Milwall in the coming match.

West Brom have had the second best attack in the league till now after Fulham, scoring 12 goals in five matches. Callum Robinson is their highest scorer with three goals before being out due to Covid. He will most probably be back against Milwall, whether Ismael gives him a starting berth is certainly a question. Jordan Hugill can also get his first start of the season after he came on as a substitute in their win over Peterborough United.

However, concerns remain over their defence as Dara O’Shea has been ruled out due to an ankle fracture alongside Matt Clarke who is also injured. Kean Bryan, recently joined from Sheffield United can be put to test on Saturday.

With two draws, two losses and only one win so far, Millwall have not had the start to the campaign that they would have wanted. They currently sit in 17th in the league with six goals scored in five matches while conceding eight, the second most in the league. With 55 shots attempted and just six goals scored their conversion rate has been really poor so far, Jed Wallace being the top scorer with three goals.  EFL Championship Preview : West Bromwich Albion vs Milwall Stats

Gary Rowett will have a full squad to choose from at the weekend which is good news for the fans. New signing Sheyi Ojo who joined on loan from Liverpool will also be available for the West Brom match. Jed Wallace will be a threat once again.

With a xG of 12.7, West Bromwich Albion will certainly have the upperhand over Milwall. They are yet to drop a single point at the Hawthorns winning two out of two games, scoring seven goals and conceding just two. Milwall however are yet to win an away game this season.

It should be an easy win for West Bromwich Albion we predict, but Millwall coming from a win in their last match against Hull City can certainly provide a strong challenge to an injury depleted West Brom defence.
