Ipswich Town will travel to Exeter City for a League One matchup on Saturday in an effort to keep the pressure on league leaders Plymouth Argyle.
Exeter has been playing a little erratically lately, so playing against the rabid visitors should be challenging.
The goal for Exeter City, who are currently ninth in the standings, will be to intensify their pursuit of a playoff spot. They currently trail sixth-place Derby County by three points, but if this weekend’s results go their way, they could move up to the playoff spots based on goal differential.
Although Exeter City defeated Peterborough United 3-2 in their most recent League One match, they have been a little erratic lately.
It was only their second league win in the last five matches, with three defeats in that run.
Exeter City’s inability to keep things tight at the back is a problem. In their last six League One games, Gary Caldwell’s team has only kept one clean sheet while giving up four goals three times.
Ipswich Town, which is in one of the automatic promotion spots, has been one of League One’s more impressive teams this year. However, the third-placed Sheffield Wednesday are now on their tail after their last two games ended in draws.
Ipswich Town’s inability to maintain order at the back is one of the causes of their recent mini slump. In their last six League One games, they have only kept one clean sheet, and most recently, they let a two-goal advantage slip away in a 4-4 draw with Charlton Athletic.
Ipswich Town has performed some of their best work this season on the road, which is a plus. In nine away games so far, Kieran McKenna’s team has won six times while losing just once.
