Queen’s Park Rangers could have a battle on their hands to keep Seny Dieng at Loftus Road beyond the end of the Championship campaign.
A recent report from The Sun has claimed that three Premier League clubs are keen on adding the shot-stopper to their squad in the January transfer window.
Arsenal are listed amongst them, with Leeds United and Crystal Palace also said to be interested in the Switzerland international who has been impressing for the Rs this season.
Dieng has made 20 starts in the Championship this season so far and has managed to keep four clean sheets in the process. In addition, he rarely concedes more than two goals in a game, having done so on just two occasions.
Due to his superb form and displays for QPR, he has emerged as a ‘top target’ for the three Premier League clubs this winter, despite each of them having signed a ‘keeper in the summer.
Arsenal allowed Emiliano Martinez to depart for Aston Villa and have seen him excel, whilst replacement Runar Alex Runarsson has failed to make a Premier League start for Mikel Arteta’s side thus far. With the way Bernd Leno is playing and how Runarsson played in the Carabao Cup tie against Manchester City, bettors might have more luck by using this link rather than the Icelandic breaking into the first team.
In addition, Crystal Palace signed Jack Butland on the transfer deadline but the former England international is yet to make a start for the Eagles, who have Vicente Guaita playing reasonably well whilst Leeds United signed Illan Meslier on a permanent deal and has since become their undisputed number one.
However, it seems each side are looking to add a shot-stopper to their goalkeeping department and Dieng could have a big decision on his hands should an offer come in.
Although QPR would likely want to decline any offer that is made for his services, they may not be in a position to do so, whilst the 26-year-old might want to take the opportunity that is presented should he have the chance to join a Premier League side.
Dieng has only started to come into the frame for the Championship side recently, despite having spent a lot of time out on loan.
However, he has since managed to prove himself at Loftus Road but there are concerns that he is outgrowing England’s second tier and could realise his potential in England’s top division.
