Stockport County boss Dave Challinor was left heartbroken as his side were beaten by Leyton Orient in the League One play-off semi-finals.
After Challinor was left incensed by the ‘worst decision’ he had seen in football during Stockport’s first leg draw with Orient, things got off to the worst start possible as Ollie O’Neill’s early goal put Richie Wellens’ men ahead on the night, and on aggregate.
It looked as if Stockport had thrown everything at it to no avail before they drew level once again thanks to Isaac Olaofe’s clever flicked effort 75th minute sent Edgeley Park into raptures.
Neither side could be separated in either normal time or extra time and it went down to penalties.
In the end, after a gruelling 120 minutes of action it was Orient who advanced through to the final as they held their nerve and won the shootout 4-1 following two misses from Stockport players.

Dave Challinor leads Stockport side on a lap of honour
Despite ending up on the losing side, Stockport have had an excellent season and it’s no wonder that Challinor has been linked with the West Brom job after taking the Hatters to within touching distance of back-to-back promotions
Reflecting on the heartbreaking defeat, a crestfallen Challinor then gathered his players and led them on a lap of honour around the stadium.
Although disappointed, supporters stayed to show their appreciation to the players who had defied the odds to get to where they had.
There will be interest in the Stockport boss from clubs elsewhere but the love Stockport fans have for him was evident to see.
When is the League One play-off final?
As for the date of the game, the League One play-off final will be held at Wembley Stadium with a kick off time yet to be confirmed.
Now that we know one of the two teams who will be playing in the play-off final, the wait is on to see which one of Charlton Athletic and Wycombe Wanderers will join.
The winner of this game will then secure promotion to the Championship and sit one division below the Premier League.
