Middlesbrough and Swansea City clashed at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday, with one player receiving high praise.
Boro struggled to pick up wins in pre-season and had a poor end to 2024/25, leading to Michael Carrick being sacked.
But Rob Edwards is now in the dugout and has made some major changes to how Middlesbrough set up.
Rav van den Berg was absent against Swansea City, but despite the centre-back missing out, Edwards is persisting with a new-look back five.

Middlesbrough fans rave about forgotten player vs Swansea City
After a quiet first half, Middlesbrough took the lead with 51 minutes on the clock.
Dael Fry got on the end of a Morgan Whittaker cross to fire the hosts into the lead.
But it was neither of those players whom fans have been raving about during the match.
Instead, forgotten man Sammy Silvera came in for heavy praise after his performance against Swansea.
One fan asked: “Am I too early in saying that Sammy Silvera will be a major asset to this team this season?”
A second Middlesbrough fan tweeted: “Silvera has been brilliant. As has Alfie Jones.”
“Silvera looks really good on that left side,” wrote another.
A fourth Middlesbrough supporter stated: “Silvera earning his spot here. Quality.”
“Sammy Silvera, hold your head up high! All the haters and doubters, you have played ——- fantastic today!” with a sixth adding: “Silvera best player on the pitch again.”
And a seventh wrote: “Silvera brightest on the pitch alongside Whittaker for me.”
Sammy Silvera on his struggles
Silvera joined Middlesbrough from Central Coast Mariners in 2023.
After making 43 appearances in his debut season for the Teessiders, he was sent out on loan twice last term, featuring for Blackpool and Portsmouth.
Since returning to the North East, Silvera has commented on his struggles from the previous campaign.
He said in July: “I had some unfortunate time out on loan, just not getting the game time required.
“Some things were out of my control, some things weren’t, but I think just being back here, being in a quality environment with quality players, that’s important to me to keep growing as a player. And the level of training from the coaches has been fantastic. I’m really enjoying it.”
