Hull City owner Acun Ilicali has planned one thing if transfer restrictions are lifted, as recent player interest is also revealed.
Hull City are subject to a ban on spending transfer fees, affecting their ability to bring players in this summer.
After a difficult 2024/25 Championship season, where they stayed up by the skin of their teeth, Hull City owner Acun Ilicali was keen to make significant changes in the summer transfer window.
Ruben Selles has been replaced by Sergej Jakirovic, although it could be suggested that the new Bosnian boss has been sold a dream, with the restriction coming to light following his arrival at Hull City.
Despite the ongoing issues, optimism remains high in the Hull City hierarchy at the MKM Stadium, with one thing being planned in the potential event of fee restrictions being lifted.

Hull City have players ‘lining up’ in potential event of restriction lifting
According to a report from Alan Nixon on Patreon, Hull City are ‘lining up players in the hope of a successful result’ in getting their current fee restrictions lifted.
An appeal has already been sent by the club, with hopes of the issues being rectified sooner rather than later, to give Acun Ilicali and Hull City clarity on the transfer business they can pursue.
Nixon also suggests that Nottingham Forest’s Lewis O’Brien had been offered a deal, but such a move could no longer be pursued due to the Premier League club demanding a fee to attain the midfielder’s services.

Acun Ilicali needs to be realistic with restriction hopes
Hull City, at this stage, are showing optimism over their bid to overturn restrictions, but a sense of realism is needed from Acun Ilicali, something that has admittedly been lacking throughout his tenure.
Ilicali’s ambitions have constantly taken centre stage at the MKM Stadium. It was why Grant McCann was relieved of his duties shortly after he took over, and it is also why Liam Rosenior and Ruben Selles faced the sack.
Whilst Hull fans will expect the club to have a plan in place if they are successful, and one that is ambitious, there also needs to be steps taken if they don’t get the outcome they expect.
Hull City may have to make the most of the free agent market this summer, and the expectation at this stage is that this is the more likely route, especially in the short term for the club.
