Middlesbrough have completed their first signing of the summer transfer window, landing Alfie Jones from Hull City.
With the 2025/26 season now close to kicking off, Middlesbrough were one of the few clubs left in the Championship who hadn’t made a senior signing.
However, that has finally changed on Friday. EFL Analysis previously shared that a move for Alfie Jones was nearly done.
And now, Middlesbrough have confirmed the capture of the Hull City centre-back on July 25.

Why Alfie Jones signed for Middlesbrough
Jones has signed for an undisclosed transfer fee and put pen to paper on a four-year contract, keeping him at the Riverside Stadium until 2029.
Now, the ex-Tigers man has conducted his first interview as a Boro player.
When doing so, he said why Middlesbrough is such an attractive place.
He told the club’s official website: “I’m absolutely buzzing to be here and ready to get to work.
“The size of the club speaks for itself. Everything about it makes it such an attractive place to be, and I’m delighted to be part of it now.
“The ambitions of the club align with mine and it feels like the perfect fit for me.”
Middlesbrough close to second summer transfer after Alfie Jones
It’s taken some time, but the transfer business in the North East is beginning to pick up.
We revealed earlier on Friday that Abdoulaye Kante is coming to Middlesbrough in a deal worth less than £3m.
The Teessiders have been following the Frenchman for over a year now and are very happy about the move.
Elsewhere, Middlesbrough are still pushing for a Callum Brittain deal but there is competition for his signature.
