Bilal El Khannouss admits Bundesliga struggles after controversial Leicester City exit

Bilal El Khannouss left Leicester City in the summer; after long being touted for a move to the Premier League, he would join Stuttgart in the Bundesliga.

The transfer is only a loan deal with the German giants, and there is a possibility that he may return to action for the Foxes next season, particularly if they secure promotion from the Championship.

However, the Moroccan international appears to be happy with life in Germany despite struggling on the pitch for Stuttgart in the early part of his campaign with them.

Now El Khannouss has revealed the reason behind his struggles in the Bundesliga, pointing to a major difference between football in England and Germany.

Bilal El Khannouss believes ‘intensity’ is the biggest difference between England and Germany

The Leicester City loanee has admitted in an interview with Bild the reasons behind his testing period in the Bundesliga.

El Khannouss believes there is a period of adaptation needed when moving from one country to another, and this is the case for him.

He said: “Football in England is different; the intensity is higher, and everything moves a bit faster.

“That’s the biggest difference between the two leagues.

“I’m still getting used to the Bundesliga, but I’ll get there.”

Leicester City should look to retain the services of Bilal El Khannouss

While it is not possible for Leicester City to utilise the quality of El Khannouss this season, with the player being out on loan with Stuttgart, it is imperative that they look to ensure he is part of their squad next season.

This will only be possible if they achieve promotion back to the Premier League, an ambition that Leicester are currently capable of as they occupy fourth in the Championship.

Their early season performances have lacked a distinctive creativity, something that El Khannouss would bring to them, and it is not easy to acquire a player with this quality in the transfer market.

It could be a match made in heaven for both parties, as Leicester look for a creative player at the start of next season, while El Khannouss aims to play at the highest level of football possible; however, it is only possible if the Foxes are playing Premier League football next season and if Stuttgart don’t activate their option-to-buy clause.
