Birmingham City boss Chris Davies hailed the Blues supporters after the dramatic comeback against Blackburn Rovers.
Birmingham City beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 on Saturday afternoon in a dramatic Championship affair.
Todd Cantwell broke the deadlock for Blackburn with his goal on the 50-minute mark.
Last season’s record-breaking League One title winners Birmingham looked destined for defeat before a Jay Stansfield penalty brought the game back on level terms.
Minutes later, Lyndon Dykes scored a dramatic 90+8-minute winner to send the travelling Blues fans into raptures, and head coach Chris Davies thanked them for their support after full-time.

Chris Davies reacts to Birmingham City win vs Blackburn Rovers
Davies had a dilemma on his hands ahead of the Blues’ visit to Ewood Park, one which he solved by starting summer signing Tommy Doyle on the bench against Blackburn.
Birmingham’s unbeaten EFL run continued with the comeback win over Blackburn, thanks to a calm head from Stansfield with the spot-kick and an enthralling winner from Dykes.
With Rovers pressing for the winner, Birmingham stunned the hosts on the counter-attack before Dykes’ goal sent the 7,000 fans behind the goal into a state of delirium.
At full-time, Davies told Birmingham’s website: “It was a massive three points for us. I felt throughout the game we were the better team.
“We showed our quality. We looked fit and strong. When there was a chance to counter attack we did it, and there were six red shirts bursting out there, but I love that about us. The determination, the desire, and the belief that they wanted to win it.
“There is no destination in football, there’s memories, and there’s moments.
“For those fans that travelled all the way here, who paid their money, stood out there and supported the team.
“We heard them. Even at 1-0 down they were singing louder than ever. That’s the team, and the club, everyone together, and that pushes us on. To give them that moment, I’ll never forget that for the rest of my life and I don’t think they will.”

Tomoki Iwata stars for Birmingham City against Blackburn Rovers
Midfielder Tomoki Iwata made his 50th appearance for Birmingham in a memorable afternoon for himself and his side.
The Japanese international arrived from Celtic in the summer of 2023, and proved pivotal to Birmingham’s third tier title win in the heart of their midfield.
His impressive form has continued into the new season, after the combative 28-year-old made the most tackles (four) of any player in the match, made eight defensive contributions, and completed three interceptions.
Despite Stansfield and Dykes taking the limelight for their crucial goals, Iwata was equally important in the Blues’ first win of the 2025/26 Championship campaign.
