Blackburn Rovers fans have had a lot to say about Valerien Ismael following the club’s midweek clash with Stoke City.

The midweek Championship matches drew to a close on Wednesday evening, with Blackburn Rovers vs Stoke City the featured game of the day.

Both sides were desperate to clinch all three points at the Bet365 Stadium but for very different reasons.

Blackburn have been in contention to secure a play-off place for much of the season, while Stoke have been fighting relegation.

When all was said and done, Ali Al-Hamadi scored the only goal of the game in the 19th minute, meaning Rovers have now dropped down to ninth in the Championship going into the weekend, four points adrift of the top-six.

Blackburn Rovers fans slam Valerien Ismael after Stoke City

With nine games of the season to go there’s still plenty of time for Blackburn to close the gap and finish inside the play-off spots but given their current form, that seems unlikely.

Valerien Ismael has now overseen three games as manager, two of which ended in defeat and the other a 1-1 draw with Norwich City.

Now, after losing to two relegation candidates in the space of five days, it’s clear Blackburn fans have already had enough of Ismael and have taken to social media to make their feelings known.

One fan wrote: “Way out of his depth, clutching at straws already, clear the players don’t want him or understand what he wants, big pay off waiting.”

A second added: “Dear Valerien… Lose against Cardiff and don’t bother coming back to Ewood.”

“Ismael out,” a third Blackburn fan simply wrote after a third winless game in a row.

Another stated: “Three games without intensity and chance creation. Not acceptable.”

A fifth Rovers fan claimed: “Clueless. Relegated by mid-March next season,” and another added: “Tactically inept.”

While a seventh fan demanded: “Val, do everyone a favour and leave. You told us you weren’t going to change a solid foundation and you’ve gone and changed a solid foundation.”

And another even suggested: “I’m sure De Boer only had four games at Palace before they got rid. Nearly time to go Ismael. Horrific appointment.”

What Valerien Ismael said after Blackburn lost to Stoke

It’s only early days, but it has already become clear that fans are not happy with the appointment of Ismael.

They have a couple of ‘easy’ fixtures coming up against Cardiff City and Portsmouth before what could prove to be a huge game in the battle for the play-offs against Middlesbrough.

Despite tasting defeat yet again on Tuesday, however, Ismael took some positives from the Stoke loss, as per the Lancashire Telegraph.

He said: “Today we made the mistake, it’s happened. But actually, how we finished the first half, how we played in the second half and we finished the second half, this is what we wanted to see from minute one.”
