Leeds United returned to the top of the Championship table after clinching an injury-time win over Sunderland at Elland Road on Monday night.
The two teams have been firmly in the race for automatic promotion all season. Going into the game, Leeds United were sat in second place, while Sunderland occupied fourth spot in the Championship table.
It was the away side who took a shock lead thanks to a Wilson Isidor goal in the first half, but Leeds came out fighting after the break, and two Pascal Struijk goals won the game for Daniel Farke’s men.
As Leeds continue to hunt for the title — and a potentially record-breaking points tally in the Championship — onlookers have decided this win might just have sealed the deal for the Yorkshire outfit.

Leeds United are destined for promotion now
Taking to Twitter/X after the game, fans flooded the official Sky Bet Championship coverage of the Leeds versus Sunderland game, and proclaimed Leeds United are now all-but guaranteed to get promoted this season.
The post described this as a “huge” win for Leeds, while among the replies, one supporter said: “Serious force this year, going to be very tough to beat them to the title.”
Another simply added: “That’s them promoted now.”
Elsewhere, a humble Norwich City fan wrote: “Really pleased for Farke, he deserves another go in the Premier league, with some financial backing.”
However, not everyone was pleased with the success for the Whites, with one neutral claiming “Leeds are so annoying” for finding the winner and continuing their charge for promotion.
Even Sunderland fans admitted Leeds were the better side, with one describing them as “excellent” and “deserving” of the win, while another added that Farke’s side are just “a bit too strong.”
Leeds are now two points clear of Sheffield United at the top of the table, and a massive seven points clear of Burnley in third.

All eyes on Sheffield United vs Leeds in title six-pointer
Based on Sheffield United’s play-offs record over the years, the Blades will be desperate to join Leeds in the automatic promotion spots. Whether that be as runners-up, or as champions, remains to be seen, though.
The two titans go head to head next Monday night in a game that could well end up deciding the title race even with 13 games still to go at this stage.
It will be yet another fascinating encounter between two of the strongest teams in the division, and hopefully it can produce some chaotic moments once more as Leeds attempt to put daylight between themselves and their rivals.
But, at Bramall Lane, against a very well-organised Chris Wilder side, Leeds will find it incredibly tough. We wonder if Farke would perhaps take a point if you offered it him right now?
