Championship pundits disagree over Middlesbrough vs Norwich City score prediction, it ‘stinks’ of one thing

Two Championship pundits have been predicting who will win out of Middlesbrough and Norwich City.

Middlesbrough and Norwich City are set to clash in a 3pm kick-off at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday, April 26.

Norwich have sacked their manager going into the meeting, with former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere expected to take temporary charge of the club.

The Canaries have been slammed for sacking Johannes Hoff Thorup, but it has been a poor season from them.

They are 14th in the second tier going into the weekend with nothing left to play for this term, unlike Middlesbrough.

Boro lost to Sheffield Wednesday in their previous meeting but remain firmly in the battle for a play-off place.

Championship pundits make Middlesbrough vs Norwich City score prediciton

Boro were named, along with several others, as one of the worst play-off chasing Championship teams in history recently.

It’s hard to argue at this point, with the Teessiders looking subpar in far too many matches this season.

They are still, however, being backed to secure something from their meeting with Norwich on April 26.

Speaking on the Championship Check-In podcast this week, Sam Parkin predicted the game to end 2-2.

He said: “Who knows, who knows here. can’t see Norwich winning probably. I think there’ll be goals.

“I think it’ll be a scoring draw or Boro will nick it. I’ll go for a 2-2.

Benjamin Bloom then predicted Middlesbrough to beat Norwich 3-1, while suggesting it’s a fixture that ‘stinks of goals’.

He responded: “Yeah, it stinks of goals, doesn’t it? Even if this wasn’t in round 45, I think we would be forecasting goals in this one.

“Do Norwich get a no-manager bounce? I’m not sure they do. I’m going to go 3-1 home win, Boro to win 3-1, which would take them to 66 going into the final round.”

Middlesbrough vs Norwich City head-to-head record

Middlesbrough and Norwich have faced off a total of 59 times throughout history.

Boro have had the better of the fixture, picking up 25 victories compared to the Canaries’ 22.

And it’s easy to see why Parkin and Bloom have both predicted plenty of goals on Saturday.

The previous meeting at Carrow Road ended in a 3-3 stalemate after a prolific first half from the Reds.

There have been at least five goals in the previous four meeting between the pair, including a 5-1 win for Middlesbrough on April 14th, 2023.
