In an EFL Analysis exclusive, we can reveal that David Wagner is potentially about to take over at one of his former clubs this summer.
The German coach, who learned everything he knows under the guidance of former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, has been out of the game for a while now.
Having previously worked at Huddersfield Town and guiding them to the Premier League, Wagner also coached Norwich City until May of last year.
With a number of clubs looking for a new manager heading into the summer, it’s no surprise that the 53-year-old is being talked about, and we can offer exclusive information as to what his next role may be.

David Wagner could return to Huddersfield Town
As per information from our Chief Football Correspondent, Graeme Bailey, EFL Analysis understands that Huddersfield Town have now offered David Wagner the chance to return to the club.
Wagner spent more than three years with the West Yorkshire club between 2015 and 2019, and even steered them to a surprise promotion to the top flight.
However, things have not been as positive for Huddersfield in the years since Wagner’s departure, with the Terriers now plugging away in League One.
Huddersfield parted ways with Michael Duff in March after it became apparent that they would fail in their quest to earn promotion back to the Championship and have been looking for a new manager ever since.
Jon Worthington is the interim manager at Town for now, but it is thought chairman Kevin Nagle is open to the idea of giving Wagner a second bite of the cherry ahead of next season.
Wagner’s last role was with Norwich City, but he left last year having lost out to Leeds United in the Championship play-offs.

David Wagner’s managerial record explained
Wagner spent a long time at Huddersfield, and was largely successful during his tenure, with the play-off victory obviously a great achievement.
He took charge of 154 games for the Terriers, winning 53, drawing 31, and losing 70, though many of those defeats came in the Premier League, of course.
| Club | Games | Wins | Draws | Losses | Win % | PPG |
| Norwich | 75 | 31 | 17 | 27 | 41.33 | 1.47 |
| Young Boys | 40 | 19 | 12 | 9 | 47.50 | 1.73 |
| Schalke | 40 | 12 | 12 | 16 | 30.00 | 1.20 |
| Huddersfield | 154 | 53 | 31 | 70 | 34.42 | 1.23 |
At Norwich, Wagner racked up 31 wins in 75 matches, with 17 draws and 27 defeats to clock a 1.47 points-per-game (PPG) ratio.
Elsewhere, Wagner has coached FC Schalke and BSC Young Boys, as well as roles earlier in his career at Hoffenheim and Borussia Dortmund.
