Derby County have a very busy summer ahead of them after surviving in the Championship on the final day of 2024/25, and work has begun around the club in preparation for next season.
Pride Park’s pitch is already being removed and replaced ahead of the new campaign, while John Eustace and his recruitment team will already be preparing to launch moves for targets to help improve the squad after such an intense relegation battle.
One Derby player is set to be released already, showing just how quickly the club are ready to move as the Rams look to climb the Championship table in 2025/26 and avoid a repeat of the last 12 months following League One promotion under Paul Warne in April 2024.
David Clowes’ success as the owner of the Rams has been clear to see, and an update that was communicated by the club on Wednesday afternoon has supporters excited for the next steps.
Derby County fans react as David Clowes brings the club and stadium together
After purchasing Derby while they were in administration in July 2022, Clowes bought the club and stadium as two separate entities.

However, he has now brought the two together under one new holding company and supporters have all started to see this move as one that signifies that a new investor will arrive soon.
Fans took to social media to praise Derby for their clear communication throughout this process and excitement has started to build in DE24.
One supporter wrote: “Investment soon?”
While another replied: “Investors incoming.”
A fourth Derby fan said: “Investment incoming.”
Before another followed in a similar fashion: “It’s coming! Investment announcement pending.”
“Club and stadium back together… ready for the special announcement coming soon,” said a seventh.
Before one Ram fanatic simply put: “Investment?”
David Clowes is moving the club in the right direction
After such a tough winter period, the arrival of John Eustace inspired Derby to rise up the table and he quickly showed to everyone that his team were not just in the Championship to make up the numbers.
After being seven points from safety with 11 games to go, the 45-year-old revolutionised the Rams and got his players battling more than they ever had and those in the stands at Pride Park were extremely receptive.
However, Derby cannot rest on their laurels and this summer is hugely important to them if they want to push towards the top half of the second tier next season, with their manager arguably one of the best in the division.
Nevertheless, investment will be needed to compete with those coming down from the Premier League, as well as the ambitious Birmingham City and Wrexham who have been promoted from League One as Eustace prepares for an extremely busy three months.
