Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna has been told about two dangers that face him this season, which could be very reminiscent of Luton Town’s situation in 2024/25.
It has been a challenging start to Ipswich Town’s 2025/26 Championship season, with Kieran McKenna’s side yet to notch their first win of the campaign.
With three points in their opening four games, the Tractor Boys managed respectable results against likely promotion candidates Birmingham City and Southampton, drawing 1-1 in each game, but have also found themselves on the receiving end of a killer defeat to Preston North End.
Last time out also saw McKenna’s side struggle, with Ipswich Town having to rely on a late penalty to draw level with Derby County.
For a side who have come down from the Premier League, it has been an unsatisfactory beginning to the campaign, and things could get worse for Ipswich from here, according to one EFL expert.

Ipswich Town told they face two dangers by EFL expert Benjamin Bloom
Ipswich Town are currently sat 20th in the Championship table, two points above the relegation zone.
They have an opportunity to bounce back from their tricky start with a clash with beleaguered Sheffield United after the international break, but it has still been a far from ideal start to the season.
The Tractor Boys’ fortunes this season have sparked two dangers, according to Benjamin Bloom, who believes that Kieran McKenna’s job could be challenging as a result.
“There are two dangers (for Ipswich),” said Bloom on YouTube. “One is that there’s just been way too much change, and it’s going to take more than a season to knit the team together.
“The other is, how much of Kieran McKenna’s double promotion run was intangible, was momentum, a good feeling just keeping going, and is that toothpaste out of the tube, and can they get it back?”

Kieran McKenna may be alarmed by Luton Town comparisons
It can be difficult to respond immediately after a relegation from the Premier League, and as Benjamin Bloom says, the amount of change at the club could prove to be a hindrance.
This was the case with Luton Town last season, who fell away after their drop from the Premier League.
Under the stewardship of Rob Edwards, Luton slumped to back-to-back relegations, which stemmed from alarming changes, as well as a significant dip in momentum.
Kieran McKenna now faces the challenge to ensure that Ipswich Town do not slump in the same pit, as, after such a poor start, alarm bells may start ringing for some fans.
Such a change when you drop from the Premier League is always unavoidable, but McKenna must ensure that his squad can regroup after the break and begin to live up to expectations.
