The EFL saw the return of the Vertu Trophy on Tuesday evening, as clubs in League One and League Two got to work in the competition.
Peterborough United are two-times defending champions after beating Birmingham City at Wembley in April.
Nevertheless, it was a disappointing start to the Posh’s defence as they were beaten 3-1 by Leyton Orient, while the result of the night came at Crewe Alexandra as the Railwaymen beat Chesterfield 7-1.
However, there was one other story that has caught the eyes of EFL supporters across the country, as Albert Adomah scored his 100th career goal, and he celebrated the effort in style.

Albert Adomah’s incredible celebration piques the interest of EFL fans
The former Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest winger has been well-loved at just about every club he has played for during his incredible career, and at 37, he is once again rolling back the years on the pitch.

He found the back of the net in the 67th minute to hand Walsall the lead away against Shrewsbury Town, and celebrated by miming a Zimmer frame before completing the show with a headstand, and EFL supporters couldn’t quite believe their eyes.
One Aston Villa fan wrote: “100 Goals – great achievement. Great player and an even better person!”
While a Middlesbrough supporter put: “Unc still got it.”
“What a guy! Had a brilliant career across the leagues in England. Such a shame we never got to celebrate a goal in a packed out Loftus Road during his time with us but those Watford goals definitely got celebrated,” a QPR fanatic said.
As a Shrewsbury Town supporter admitted defeat in an incredible way: “I can’t lie, if we’re giving goals away for free in this fashion then we deserve to have a handstand celebration dunked on our heads.”

Albert Adomah’s career has been fantastic
While there is no denying that Adomah is in the twilight of his career, he has proved on countless occasions in the last year or so that he still has what it takes to perform in League Two.
However, his game time has lessened recently, and he has played just 180 minutes from six games in the league so far this season.
| Appearances | 752 |
| Goals | 100 |
| Assists | 102 |
Nevertheless, throughout his time as a professional footballer, Adomah has made himself into an EFL legend, making 752 appearances since making his debut for Barnet in the 2007/08 campaign.
All but two of his league matches have come in the Championship, League One and League Two, and there is no denying the quality of his career.
