It’s always a sad day when a legend announces that they are hanging up their boots for good.
The Championship and the rest of the Football League have had some brilliant players represent a number of clubs over the years, and not many are more iconic than Jordan Rhodes.
A prolific goalscorer, bagging over 200 career goals, Rhodes featured for the likes of Huddersfield Town, Blackburn Rovers, Norwich City and more.

EFL fans react to Jordan Rhodes’ retirement
The former Scotland international played for 11 different clubs, so had a variety of messages from different supporters.

Huddersfield fan, @htfc8108 added: “What a legend at Huddersfield Town, you will always be welcome back at the stadium Jordan. All the very best for what you do in your next chapter Jordan and congratulations on an incredible goalscoring career.”
@Joe_Loughran26 said: “Warra player.”
@smileawhilezine commented: “Happy retirement to the goal machine Jordan Rhodes. For those too young to enjoy Marcus Stewart, he was a new age hero for the terriers with a casual style, deceptive movement and ruthless finishing qualities. A throwback striker that will always be remembered!”
@GiallorossiBlue also said: “What a player Jordan Rhodes was for Rovers, he was a difference maker. Happy retirement, Jordan!”
Jordan Rhodes lands new role immediately after retirement
Although Rhodes won’t be playing anymore, his time away from football was very short-lived after he was appointed as Blackburn’s new loan manager.
The 35-year-old’s new role was confirmed shortly after his retirement was made public and he promises to ‘go above and beyond’ to ensure that he succeeds in his job.
He said: “Football’s been very kind to me. Obviously, I’ve got a lot of thanks to a lot of people like family and friends, coaches over the years who have given me this opportunity to have lived out this dream, but yeah, I’m looking forward to the next chapter.”
