The 2025 Championship play-off final will take place later this month, seeing Sheffield United and Sunderland face off.

Sheffield United missed out on automatic promotion despite reaching 90 points, instead being forced to compete in the Championship play-offs.

The Blades went on to dominate Bristol City over two legs, booking their spot at Wembley Stadium with ease.

They will meet Sunderland in the showpiece, who had a slightly tougher time making it to the capital.

The Black Cats needed an extra-time goal from Dan Ballard to draw with Coventry City in their second-leg tie, advancing to Wembley with a 3-2 aggregate scoreline.

Championship play-off final kick-off time still not announced

The 2025 Championship play-off final will take place on Saturday, May 24, at Wembley.

Fans of both Sunderland and Sheffield United will be making the long trip down to London from the north of England.

However, despite the game now being just over a week away, a kick-off time for the fixture is yet to be confirmed by the EFL.

This has seen BBC Sheffield journalist Rob Staton take to social media to express his disbelief at the situation, which he finds ‘absolutely staggering’.

He wrote: “It’s absolutely staggering that tickets are being sold for the Championship playoff final and we still don’t know what time the actual game kicks off.”

When did the last Championship play-off final kick off

An announcement should be made in the coming days, but for now, fans looking to make travel arrangements are just going to have to estimate when the tie could kick off.

The 2024 Championship play-off final took place between Leeds United and Southampton, with the latter coming out on top.

That match, which ended 1-0 to Saints and was played on a Sunday, kicked off at 3pm UK time.

Whether that will be the case this year remains to be seen.
