Leicester City legend Emile Heskey has named his all-time greatest Foxes XI, with one glaring omission.

Leicester City suffered relegation from the Premier League to the Championship last season, nine years on from the Foxes’ historic top flight title win.

In the 2015/16 campaign under Claudio Ranieri, Leicester completed one of the greatest sporting achievements in history, to become champions of the Premier League for the first time in Foxes history.

The Foxes squad of that year, who did the footballing unthinkable, have all cemented themselves in Leicester folklore forever for their heroic efforts.

Now, ahead of the club’s foray in the 2025/26 Championship campaign, Leicester legend Emile Heskey has named his all-time greatest Leicester XI.

Leicester-born Heskey played 168 games of his 757-game career for the Foxes, scoring 41 goals and notching ten assists during his six-year stay at the club.

Heskey, who is currently the head of football development of Leicester City Women, has named his greatest Leicester XI combined across the club’s 141-year history.

Many of the top flight title-winning heroes feature on the list, as well as some of the Englishman’s former teammates from his 1994-2000 stint at Leicester.

Surprisingly, none of Leicester City’s most expensive signings feature in his list, but the Foxes faithful will certainly agree that Heskey’s starting side could do some damage in the top flight.

Heskey’s greatest Leicester starting XI would no doubt be title contenders, if they were to feature in the 2025/26 Championship as the Foxes are set for next term.

However, there are several glaring omissions from Heskey that the Foxes faithful would likely include in their greatest ever combined starting XIs.

Emile Heskey snubs Leicester City legend Andy King from his greatest starting XI

The glaring omission by Heskey is Foxes legend Andy King, who is currently part of the Leicester first-team coaching set-up.

After an extensive stay at the King Power Stadium, King left Leicester for free in the summer of 2020, with chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha labelling him as “amazing.”

Via the BBC, Srivaddhanaprabha said: “Andy has been through everything with us and is an amazing guy. I’m so grateful to him.

“He is the only player still here that was with the club when King Power took over 10 years ago. He’s been a massive part of what the club has achieved in that time and earned the respect of so many people.”

Welsh international King played the majority of his 484-game playing career for Leicester, featuring 379 times for the Foxes, scoring 62 goals and notching 24 assists.

Although Neil Lennon featured for Leicester in the Championship play-off final win over Crystal Palace in the 1995/96 campaign, King’s impact at the club has been much more crucial in recent Leicester history.

King won the League One, Championship, and Premier League titles with Leicester in 2009, 2014, and the 2015/16 season, respectively, making King the first and only player to win the top three divisions with the same team within the Premier League era.

The inclusion of N’Golo Kante is a dead cert after his outstanding performances in the infamous Premier League winning title campaign, but the vast majority of the Leicester fanbase would certainly rather see King alongside the Frenchman than Lennon in the greatest combined Foxes starting XI of all time.
