Frank Lampard has revealed that it was an easy decision to make when asked why Jack Rudoni didn’t feature for Coventry City.
Rudoni was missing from the Sky Blues’ 2-2 draw with German outfit St Pauli amid plenty of transfer speculation throughout the summer.
Sheffield United have been linked with Rudoni and the midfielder was one of the best players in the Championship.
His absence was a cause for concern amongst Coventry fans but Lampard’s reason for keeping him out of the side may put some of their worries to rest.

Frank Lampard reveals why Jack Rudoni missed Coventry friendly
Speaking to local media after the game, Lampard revealed that Rudoni didn’t feature due to a calf injury he picked up.
With only one week before the Championship season starts, the Coventry manager wasn’t willing to take any risks.
“He had a small calf injury, an awareness in his calf yesterday so it was a simple decision to take him out of what is a friendly game, albeit we would have liked to get him some minutes,” he told Coventry Telegraph.
“We hope he is fit to train on Monday or Tuesday.”
Coventry must get promoted if they want to keep Jack Rudoni
The former Huddersfield Town man had a stellar first season for Coventry, picking up 22 goal contributions across the 2024/25 season and he will have eyes on him once again.
Coventry won’t be foolish enough to realise that it is a case of win or bust when it comes to keeping some of their star players.
Rudoni will be of interest to many sides in the Premier League and Championship and the Sky Blues know that if their long-term aim of promotion isn’t realised, then their best talents will continue the journey without them.
