‘Great to see’… Leicester City fans react to big news coming out of the club

Leicester City have endured a torrid season in the Premier League.

Pretty much everything has gone wrong from the get-go, with promotion-winning manager Enzo Maresca leaving for Chelsea before the season even began.

Steve Cooper’s appointment turned out to be a disaster, as he won just two of his 12 league games, although, Ruud van Nistelrooy has been even worse.

Leicester reside in 19th, a whopping 17 points adrift from safety, so their return to the Championship is all but sealed.

Injuries have played a part in their demise, with the likes of Mads Hermansen, Ricardo Pereira and Wildred Ndidi all sidelined for large portions.

But, perhaps the biggest miss of all has been Abdul Fatawu, who sustained an ACL injury which required surgery in November.

That said, there’s now some positive news on Fatawu’s condition.

Fatawu has been recovering from his serious knee injury since the international break in November and was expected to be out for the remainder of the season.

However, there is now a slim chance of an early return after being pictured on the grass at Leicester’s Seagrave training ground.

Foxes supporters swarmed to social media in excitement about the positive news.

Deborah Kingzett wrote: “Leicester really missed him. Things might have been different if he hadn’t been injured all season. He was playing great alongside Mavididi.”

Simon Hall added: “Fatawu, Mavididi and Monga to terrorise the Championship.”

“Best news ever,” Imoro Mubrak posted.

Glen Carlin commented: “Hope he’s with us next season.”

Sean Colbert said: “Hope he’s the player he was, we will probably sell him now!”

“Great to see Fatawu,” wtfh21 added.

Fatawu will be crucial in Leicester’s promotion hopes

Had Fatawu not sustained the injury, it’s hard to imagine him staying with Leicester in the Championship, given how impressive he looked early on in the campaign.

But, with such a long layoff, it seems likely that he’ll be remaining with the Foxes to build himself back up to his peak.

Fatawu will play a crucial role in City’s forthcoming promotion push, just as he did under Maresca during the 2023/24 season.

The 2004-born wide player netted seven times whilst laying on 13 assists across all competitions that year, so if he can replicate a similar total his time around, it’ll stand Leicester in good stead to bounce straight back to the top-flight.
