Hull City supporters have shown their disdain towards owner Acun Ilicali after the club was hit with a three-window embargo.
With the 2025/26 Championship looming, Hull City have been hit with a three-window transfer embargo.
As reported by Hull Daily Mail, the reason behind the Tigers being plunged into financial uncertainty comes from the failure to pay Aston Villa a £1million loan fee for Aston Villa, who spent half a season at the MKM Stadium.
Whilst Hull City were given the chance to appeal such a decision to get the embargo reduced, the Tigers have now been told that they will face the original punishment of three windows banned from spending on players, nor are they allowed to pay loan fees.
After the revelations that broke last night, Hull City fans have been up in arms, and ultimately, one man has been blamed.

Hull City slapped with embargo as supporters target Acun Ilicali for lying
Hull City fans were quick to take to social media to discuss the embargo that the club had been placed under.
Writing on X, one fan suggested that it was ‘time to go’ for Hull City owner Acun Ilicali. That was backed up by another supporter, who said that it was an ‘absolute joke’ and that he ‘can see it turning nasty [in the] first few games regardless of whether this gets lifted’.
Some fans honed in on the comments that Ilicali made in a recent open meeting with the supporters, where the Tigers chief suggested that the club had no financial issues looming.
Responding to this, one fan stated that he was ‘lying openly to fans’ faces directly’.
Giving a detailed response to the news was one Hull fan, who said: “The late paying wages was one alarm bell. This transfer embargo has now rang multiple alarm bells. Spent millions and millions on wasters for 4 years straight. F___ hurts to watch us be ran so incompetently. ACUN OUT. Protests needed, it’s that simple.”

Acun Ilicali plagued Hull with issues in 2024
The issues for the Tigers originate from the 2023/24 season, where Hull City finished just outside the play-offs. Whilst on the surface, a top-half finish for Hull would be considered as a top season, taking financial decisions into mind, it was a campaign that would lead to self-destruction.
Hull City spent lucratively, particularly in the January window, bringing in Fabio Carvalho on loan, as well as Anass Zaroury. This was on top of having the heavily-paid Jean Michael Seri, Ozan Tufan, and Jaden Philogene on the books. Whilst Ilicali did build a brilliant team that season, it turned out to be the reason why the club is mired in financial issues now.
Considering the ownership of Ilicali started so positively, with fans flooding back to the MKM Stadium in their thousands following the Allam era, it seems that all that hard work has now been completely undone. Hull City fans have been left with trust issues based on previous owners, and Ilicali has done his bit to implement this.
