Kieran McKenna has already told Blackburn Rovers if Ipswich Town will accept unusual EFL request

Kieran McKenna has already given an insight into how his side will act in the replayed fixture between Blackburn Rovers and Ipswich Town.

The EFL have said that Blackburn and Ipswich must replay the game in full after the initial game was abandoned on the 80th minute mark due to a waterlogged pitch.

No date has been confirmed for when the game will be replayed at Ewood Park, but Blackburn have already asked Ipswich to let them score first so that they can restore their advantage.

It is something McKenna was asked about before his side’s win against Portsmouth, and his reply won’t go down too well.

Ipswich won’t let Blackburn score to get advantage

Whatever happens in the replay, there will no doubt be a controversial tale to tell from it.

While Blackburn are hoping for some sportsmanship, it seems that Ipswich have no interest in helping them out.

Speaking to the East Anglian Daily Times, he said: “I don’t even think they’re worth justifying with a thought, to be honest.

“As I say, you’d be frustrated if you’re in the Blackburn situation because they’ll feel like they were in a good position to go on and get a result.

“But I don’t think there’s a decision to make or too much else to discuss. The conditions were unplayable, in my opinion, from probably about half-time onwards.

“There’s an awful lot of other things you could say about the context of the game and things like that. But I don’t think there’s anything to gain from it.”

Sam Parkin thinks Ipswich are back

After a rocky start to the season, Ipswich seem to be back in their groove.

Comfortable wins against Sheffield United and Portsmouth have helped them to climb back up the table, and EFL pundit Sam Parkin thinks they are back to their best.

Writing on the BBC, he said: “I expect Ipswich to climb the table. In keeping with all the relegated sides, it takes time to refocus.

“They thumped Sheffield United last time at Portman Road; today was going to be a difficult game. Portsmouth are really well set up, especially away from home, so it was no surprise there was only a goal between them.”
