The transfer window may be closed, but that doesn’t mean clubs can’t still make new signings.

Leicester City were one of the more active clubs on deadline day, signing three players to help bolster Marti Cifuentes‘ squad.

Free agents are still available though and in a surprise turn of events, one of those without a club was unveiled by the Foxes.

26-year-old goalkeeper Francisco Vieites was posted on the club’s social media pages and fans were all in agreement.

Leicester City fans excited by secret transfer

Football transfers usually have every last detail documented from the first talks to flights for incoming arrivals being tracked.

Vieites’ arrival is one that caught everyone off guard, but is also a welcome surprise.

@Omodon said: “Where did he come from?”

@Benricho1234 added: “Out of nowhere.”

@SeanWhitaker21 commented: “Played a good number of games last couple seasons for Real Betis. Could be a smart free signing.”

@fatawulcfc replied: “WHAT?”

Francisco Vieites’ first words as a Leicester City player

Vieites was a part of Real Betis’ Europa Conference League campaign last season and will come in with the aim of dislodging Jakub Stolarczyk as Leicester’s number one.

In his first interview with the club, he told the official website: “It’s a very big step for my career. I’m very happy to join this massive club and I’m eager to start working, meet my colleagues and to try and enjoy the first three points.

“The project is massive. They are doing a great job, the coaches, with a way to play football that I like. It’s like a mix of Spanish football and English football. That’s the way I like to play football.

“I promise that I will give my best every day, every match, and I’m sure we will have fun. The way that I have fun is winning.”
