Leyton Orient take on Charlton Athletic in the League One play-off final at Wembley on Sunday afternoon with both sides fighting for a place in the Championship.
Charlton Athletic and Leyton Orient will take each other on under the Wembley arch on Sunday afternoon for a place in the 2025/26 Championship.
Charlton endured a goalless draw with Wycombe Wanderers in the first leg of the semi-final, before Matt Godden’s late strike in the second leg snatched a spot for the Addicks at Wembley, inspiring boss Nathan Jones’ emotional celebrations.
Orient’s double header against Stockport County was deadlocked at 3-3 on aggregate after the two semi-final legs had concluded, with Orient winning 4-1 on penalties to knock Dave Challinor’s side out.
With the Wembley finale looming, one team has been given the slight edge to taste victory by the OPTA supercomputer predictions.

OPTA supercomputer prediction for League One play-off final winner
Charlton boss Jones may be a divisive EFL figure, but he has undoubtedly masterminded one of the best jobs in the third tier this term and has guided the Addicks to 35 wins from 72 matches under his tutelage.
Challinor’s side were the beneficiary of a controversial offside call mistake against Stockport, thanks to Charlie Kelman’s goal, with EFL Analysis’s resident officiating expert Mark Clattenburg labelling it a big mistake.
Ahead of the League One play-off final on Sunday, OPTA’s supercomputer prediction has given Charlton Athletic the slight advantage over Leyton Orient, granting the Addicks a 26.6% chance of winning the play-offs.
Orient are still in contention for second tier promotion, with OPTA granting them a 23.7% chance of winning the play-offs.
| Team | Reach final | Win play-offs |
| Stockport County | 53.7% | 28% |
| Charlton Athletic | 54.8% | 26.6% |
| Leyton Orient | 46.3% | 23.7% |
| Wycombe Wanderers | 45.2% | 21.7% |
EFL experts have predicted Orient will be more front-footed than Charlton on Sunday, going into the final having scored three goals across the two semi-final legs, compared to Charlton’s single strike coming 170 minutes into the double header.

Leyton Orient vs Charlton Athletic form heading into League One play-off final
If the two semi-final clashes are anything to go by, then Sunday’s Wembley showpiece is set to be an exciting affair between Orient and Charlton.
Orient ace Kelman admitted his goal was offside against Stockport, but will be hoping to add a less dubious goal to his impressive 27 tally this term.
Charlton are one of the best attacking sides in the third tier, but found the net five times less (67) than Orient did in the regular season.
| Leyton Orient | Charlton Athletic |
| Goals scored – 3 | Goals scored – 1 |
| Goals conceded – 3 | Goals conceded – 0 |
| Shots on target – 9 | Shots on target – 6 |
Their robust defensive structure under Jones was proven across the two legs against Wycombe, particularly in the second leg in which Mike Dodds’ side failed to register a shot on target as Charlton secured their spot in Sunday’s final.
Form, statistics and data, however, count for very little in a high-octane final scenario.
