Middlesbrough fans have a lot to say about Kelechi Iheanacho after Blackburn Rovers – it’s hard to argue

Middlesbrough and Blackburn Rovers squared off in a Friday evening Championship meeting and fans had a lot to say about Kelechi Iheanacho.

Blackburn Rovers have endured a difficult period since losing manager John Eustace to Derby County.

Valerien Ismael was installed as his replacement but lost his first four Championship matches in the dugout.

Rovers’ latest challenge saw them going head-to-head with a Middlesbrough side who still have play-off aspirations.

The Teesiders could have moved back inside the top-six had they seen off their opponents on Friday, at least temporarily.

Blackburn, meanwhile, really had to win to keep their very small chances of making a late dash for the play-offs alive.

Middlesbrough fans react to Kelechi Iheanacho display vs Blackburn Rovers

It was Middlesbrough who struck first, however, with Tommy Conway’s brilliance firing the away outfit in front after being set up by Kelechi Iheanacho.

Carrick’s men then doubled their lead six minutes later, with Iheanacho this time setting up Samuel Iling-Junior’s deflected effort.

After bagging himself two assists inside 10 minutes to follow on from his first goal last weekend, Boro fans have taken to social media to praise the Nigerian for his improvement of late.

One fan wrote: “There has still been a few moments where he’s been a step too slow or stops chasing the ball too soon but overall much better from Iheanacho so far.”

A second added: “Those absolute tools who wrote Iheanacho off! He hadn’t played in months —.”

“Stupid —– writing Iheanacho and Iling-Junior off after two games like,” another wrote.

A fourth continued: “Iheanacho man, turns out he’s a ——- great signing after all.”

While another joked: “Feed Iheanacho whatever he wants I don’t care.”

And a sixth Middlesbrough fan stated: “Different gravy when we turn it on. Iheanacho been class!

How does Riley McGree get back into the Middlesbrough team

After a much-improved display as Middlesbrough beat Blackburn on Friday, it seems likely that Iheanacho will be keeping his place in the Boro eleven for the time being.

Now playing in the 10 role just off Conway, Finn Azaz has been moved onto the left, with Delano Burgzorg on the right.

It’s a front four that has shown signs of promise in Boro’s last two fixtures, but it does beg the question: How does Riley McGree get back into the side?

The Australian generally improves Middlesbrough whenever he plays, with Carrick’s side having a higher win percentage this season when McGree is involved.

But for the time being, at least, the midfielder may have to wait before he can return to the eleven.
