West Brom’s summer signing Nat Phillips has told his teammates to be cautious, despite their strong start to the season.

Ryan Mason’s side have had a strong start to the Championship campaign, winning three and drawing one.

Phillips has already become a fan favourite and has been a huge part of the early season success at The Hawthorns. The centre-back is used to being in a winning environment after coming through the ranks at Liverpool and spending time on loan at Celtic.

Complacency is the one thing to avoid for promotion-chasing sides, and the 28-year-old has offered some words of wisdom to the rest of the side.

Nat Phillips urges West Brom teammates to focus on task at hand

Four games in is still very early into the season, and there are plenty of twists and turns to go before anything is decided.

While West Brom have been one of the early frontrunners, Phillips has warned his teammates that they cannot think that they are top dogs in the division.

“It’s important to not get complacent,” he told the Express and Star. “We all know that we need to keep pushing forward, keep going in the direction that we want to.

“We want to continue with the run that we’ve been going on. You’ve got to be ready for these games. They come thick and fast, but credit to everyone, they rose to the challenge.”

West Brom may have secured bargain buy in Nat Phillips

In a world where money is being spent left, right and centre, the Baggies may have stumbled onto the bargain buy of the summer.

Having cost West Brom £1m, Phillips brings a wealth of experience worth so much more.

Two clean sheets in four games shows that and as they prepare to face Derby County, who Phillips rejected the chance to return to this summer.

After losing Kyle Bartley to retirement, as well as promising centre-back Torbjorn Heggem to Bologna for £10m, their summer recruit has been the perfect option.
