Norwich fans are fuming as true reason behind Johannes Hoff Thorup’s failure emerges

The true reasons behind Johannes Hoff Thorup’s torrid tenure at Norwich City have emerged, leaving fans fuming.

The manager was sacked in April and has since shared a damning verdict after his ‘sudden’ sacking.

The Canaries suffered six defeats in eight games and missed out on the play-offs.

They finished the season in 13th, 10 points off the play positions.

The fans frustrations were only added to after a recent video has been shared on social media, showing why Thorup’s reign may have been so difficult.

The clip shows the true ‘issue’ at Norwich leaving fans angry

A clip that has circulated on social media shows former manager Johannes Hoff Thorup speaking to the Norwich squad.

Thorup asks the players: “How many of you in here are still talking and thinking about top six, play-offs and stuff like that. Absolutely no one.

“Should we start out by lying here? You f****** asked me the other day how many games do we need to win,” Thorup continued pointing at a player off screen.

“Six,” a few players mumble.

“So you are thinking about it. Is it realistic?”

“Yes but it’s difficult to win seven games,” Norwich player Borja Sainz.

“But it’s a challenge. Do you like a challenge? I think it would be a waste of time just to say that it’s unrealistic or we cannot get there. Do we end up in the play-offs let’s see,” Thorup said.

The lack of passion and enthusiasm has left fans frustrated and they have shared their anger on X.

“Reminds me of a teacher telling the kids off but they keep saying ‘well yeh but’ and keep making excuses,” one fan said.

“The players really stitched up JHT,” one said.

Another said: “Just shows players not believing in the manager.”

“JHT was screwed over by players and club. Feel sorry for him here,” another commented.

“Their attitude stinks. And shouldn’t be here to not perform next season for whoever the new coach is. The club and fans as well as the coach deserve better,” another stated.

Who could be Norwich’s next manager?

With the club still searching for Johannes Hoff Thorup’s replacement, Norwich City are interested in ‘brilliant’ Championship manager.

Liam Manning, who led Bristol City to the Championship play-offs, stands as a firm contender with local roots, having played in Norwich’s academy. His play-off experience, despite a heavy semi-final loss to Sheffield United, could be seen as valuable.

Gary O’Neil, a former Norwich player with Premier League experience at Bournemouth and Wolves, is also linked and his pragmatic approach appeals to the club.

Pep Lijnders, previously Jurgen Klopp’s assistant at Liverpool and with recent experience at Red Bull Salzburg, remains another name in the frame, potentially bringing a different tactical approach.
