Notts County made the decision to sack Stuart Maynard on Thursday afternoon following his now former sideโs failure to win promotion through the League Two play-offs.
The Magpies were beaten over two legs by AFC Wimbledon, with two 1-0 victories for the Dons taking them to Wembley on Monday to face Walsall.
After two disappointing displays in the semi-finals, where Notts County failed to threaten the London outfitโs goal, Maynard was made to pay with his job and they are now searching for a new manager to lead them forward.
However, supporters all seem to be in agreement about who should take over at Meadow Lane ahead of next season, with the EFL transfer window set to open soon.

Notts County fans would love to see Luke Williams return to the club
Luke Williams left the East Midlands side in the 2023/24 campaign, making the switch to the Championship with Swansea City.

But the move did not work out, and Williams was sacked by the Swans in February after a terrible run of form left them threatened by relegation.
Despite this, it is clear to see just how well regarded the 44-year-old still is in NG2, and supporters would love to see their National League promotion winning manager return to the club and lead them forward for 2024/25.
One supporter wrote: โI will push bike to Swansea to give King Luke a ride home if required.โ
While another put: โThe correct decision for the future of the football club.โ
A fourth handed Notts County some advice: โIf we bring back Luke and his announcement video isnโt shots of someone going around town on a scooter and stepping off at Meadow Lane to reveal him with an โOi Oi, come on the Countyโ, I will be very disappointed. The viral content is sitting right there.โ
As a fifth put: โGet in! Luke Williams back please.โ

A Luke Williams return just makes sense
It feels as though Williams has unfinished business with Magpies, and if they can entice him back to the club, then success will follow.
The future of David McGoldrick is also incredibly important, as he is a vital player to the club, and when he is on form, so is the rest of the team.
Notts County need stability after a difficult end to the season, and the familiar face of Williams will help them as they seek their League One return. However, supporters must be patient, as the next few weeks will be tough as the Magpies look to find their way out of this current situation.
