Preston North End face one of the biggest games of their season as they welcome Plymouth Argyle.

Defeat to Hull City on Easter Monday means that Preston are still not mathematically safe in the Championship relegation battle.

They face a Plymouth Argyle side who secured a massive 3-1 win against Coventry City to give them a fighting chance of survival.

Plymouth could be relegated if they lose and results go against them whilst three points at Deepdale may confirm Paul Heckingbottom’s spot in the second tier for next season – should results go their way.

It’s bound to be a tense atmosphere in Lancashire and in a bid to give themselves any sort of advantage, Preston have launched a new initiative that has gone down well with supporters.

Preston fans react to new ticket prices for Plymouth game

As it’s their final home game of the season, Preston want as many fans as possible to turn up and get behind the team.

To ensure that, the club have confirmed that they have reduced the price of adult tickets to £5 and anyone under the age of 14 can enter the ground for a £1.

Combined with their annual retro kit day where supporters are encouraged to wear shirts from the past, it’s a move widely appreciated by all.

@louise_pne said: “Good on the club for this – it’s clear we are needed so let’s step up.”

@DR7pne added: “Got to get behind them now for the last two games and put aside the rest of it until the season ends.”

@ArgyleLife1886 wrote: “Listen, fair play.”

@JMontague2024, a Blackburn Rovers fan, said: “Why can’t we do this! Instead of fleecing the fans who have been there all season and spent enough? Fair play Preston.”

@MaraudersJFC stated: “This is how you get the atmosphere rocking for a crucial game. Not £71 a ticket.”

Preston North End coach blasts ‘ridiculous’ form

It’s been a sorry state of affairs for the Lilywhites of late, who looked on course for survival a little less than a month ago.

That loss to relegation rivals Hull has thrown them into the deep end though and assistant manager Stuart McCall wasn’t impresed.

He told the official club website: “It’s ridiculous. It’s absolutely ridiculous. Even only a month ago, I was looking up thinking, ‘Can we catch Norwich? Can we catch Sheffield Wednesday? Can we catch Blackburn?

“We’ve only got one concern now, one prime focus, and that’s next Saturday. Then if we can get what’s needed, and I hate saying it, but to stay in the league, which is something I should never be stood here saying after the sort of football and play that we’ve had in the middle to early part of the season, which should have got us more points, but it hasn’t.”
