Sheffield United learned who they will be facing at Wembley on May 24 in the most dramatic of circumstances on Tuesday evening, as Sunderland ran out 3-2 winners over Coventry City.
The Championship play-offs provided incredible drama once again, as Dan Ballard headed in spectacularly with just seconds to go in extra-time to take the Black Cats to within 90 minutes of a return to the Premier League.
For Sheffield United, however, it was a much calmer state of affairs 24 hours prior as they eased past Bristol City in a second 3-0 win over the Robins in the space of four days to book their place in the final.
Nevertheless, for Peterborough United, Tuesday was tough to take as well and they will be sitting firmly in the corner of the Blades when they make that trip to the Home of Football for one specific reason.
Peterborough United are relying on Sheffield United for a promotion bonus
Harrison Burrows has had an excellent season with Sheffield United after making the switch from the Posh in the summer, and he played a crucial role in his side’s semi-final matches – scoring once and registering three assists.

The left-back made the switch to South Yorkshire for £3m in the summer transfer window, but as per the Peterborough Times, that could rise to £6m if all add-ons are achieved. One of those could be just a matter of weeks away and would net the League One side £1m.
If Sheffield United end their play-off hoodoo and return to the top flight, then the Posh will be owed £1m by the Blades, but it could have been a guaranteed fee had Coventry progressed through to the final.
Ephron Mason-Clark has the same promotion clause in his deal with the Sky Blues, and had Frank Lampard’s side run out as winners at the Stadium of Light, then Peterborough would have had a neutral standing in the game.
However, they will now be in the corner of Chris Wilder on May 24, as Burrows looks to go from League One to the Premier League in the space of two years.
Harrison Burrows has been one of the signings of the season
After such an incredible first year with the Blades, it was clear to see why there was a battle for his signature in the summer and he has shown that he has more than enough quality for the step-up from the third tier.
At 23, the ceiling is incredibly high for the full-back, who very much fits the mould of a modern wide defender, and the challenge of the Premier League will only take him to the next level.

However, he knows that he must perform one more time this season if he is to have that opportunity of playing in the top flight in 2025/26, and he will be primed and ready to make his return to Wembley after helping Peterborough to the EFL Trophy in April 2024.
Burrows was outstanding against Bristol City, and he will be a huge threat to Sunderland on the left flank, with his former club hoping for his success in less than two weeks’ time.
