Sheffield Wednesday ace would ‘definitely’ be tempted by transfer this summer, says Sky Sports pundit

There is much uncertainty at Hillsborough as the 2025 summer transfer window approaches.

Sheffield Wednesday ended 2024/25 in mid-table, which was a big improvement on the previous campaign.

However, the Owls are now having to deal with a number of potential major changes this summer.

Turki Alalshikh has been told to buy Sheffield Wednesday as talk of a potential takeover continues.

Meanwhile, Danny Rohl’s future has been called into question, with the German hinting he is ready to leave.

Elsewhere, star man Josh Windass has been linked with a move to Valencia this summer.

Lee Hendrie thinks Josh Windass would like Valencia transfer

Windass has come under fire recently following comments he made about Joey Phuthi.

This came not long after the club opted to take up an extension in the midfielder’s contract, which keeps him in Yorkshire for another year.

However, Lee Hendrie has been discussing Windass’ potential move to Spain and thinks it’s something that would interest the Wednesday ace.

He told Football League World: “Josh Windass, Sheffield Wednesday obviously could be seeing him leave the football club.

“Valencia, the football club want to sign him. Josh being tempted by this? I think he would be. I don’t see why he wouldn’t be. That’s no disrespect to Sheffield Wednesday, but I think the fact of playing in Spain and playing for Valencia – you’re talking a different level. I mean, that’s the closest you’re going to get to Premier League football, and that’s where these guys would get tempted – I don’t see how you wouldn’t be.

“I think it’d be a loss for Sheffield Wednesday, but I certainly think that it’d be a club that Josh would certainly raise his eyebrows at, and definitely, definitely wouldn’t surprise me if that happened.”

What Josh Windass has said about leaving Sheffield Wednesday

Windass commented on transfer rumours last week, moving to play them down.

He said: “I don’t know anything about that to be honest.

“That’ll be because of Carlos [Corberan]. I was close to going to West Brom last summer because I was a free transfer and I was close to going to West Brom and ended up staying at Sheffield Wednesday.”

Windass scored 13 goals and provided five assists in 44 Championship matches this past season.
