Sky Sports pundit highlights exactly how Frank Lampard has been ‘tremendously’ brilliant at Coventry City

David Prutton has been full of praise for Coventry City boss Frank Lampard, as well as the one player he has had the most impact on.

Coventry City are gearing up for a clash with Sunderland, where they will hope to take advantage of their home leg to set them up for a trip to the Stadium of Light.

Six months ago, not many could have envisaged Coventry City being in the position they find themselves in now, having dismissed club favourite Mark Robins in favour of Frank Lampard, who arrived off the back of difficult spells at Chelsea and Everton.

Nonetheless, Lampard has played a crucial role in turning the Sky Blues’ campaign around, and they now find themselves potentially three games away from the Premier League.

Lampard deserves unwavering support and praise from Coventry fans for the feat he achieved in the regular Championship season, something that also has left the EFL experts speaking positively of the Sky Blues coach.

Sky Sports pundit David Prutton notes Frank Lampard impact at Coventry City and influence on Jack Rudoni

Coventry boss Lampard has played a crucial role in drastically improving the form of each individual in the side, but Jack Rudoni has notably shot up in quality.

Rudoni has shown shades of Lampard in his playing days, something that has come about after the Coventry boss offers his insight daily in training. It has had a sizeable impact on the 23-year-old midfielder.

It is also something that Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has noticed in the midfielder, who he says has appeared to be ‘absolutely beaming’.

“Jack Rudoni is absolutely beaming to be playing under his idol, isn’t he?” said Prutton, speaking to Football League World. “Frank Lampard is loving every minute of it, and Frank is a tremendously ambitious manager. He’s a driven individual at a club that is run by tremendously driven people.”

Increased media coverage on Frank Lampard could provide double-edged sword for Coventry

There is no taking away the job that Lampard has undergone at Coventry; the side were in 17th place with just two points separating them and the drop zone when he took over. There was a clear risk taken by the board to replace Robins with Lampard, but it could not have worked out any better.

Because of Lampard’s name, not just as a former player, but also as a coach who has endured some tricky roles, but now finds his career back on track, he has received widespread media coverage, something that could be a blessing but also a curse.

With Lampard’s experience in the Premier League, promotion for Coventry could mean that he is absolutely the right man to lead the Sky Blues through a season where they will hope to avoid the drop. However, if Coventry are unable to notch a move up to the top flight, there is no doubt that Lampard’s name will be uttered amongst the candidates for Premier League roles, a situation that could potentially leave the club back in square one.

It has been a brilliant season for the club, but there is simply no underestimating just how much is riding on this play-off campaign for Coventry City.
