Southampton suffered relegation from the Premier League last season, and as a result, many of their stars will want to make a quick return to the English top flight.
The Saints lost two notable stars to the Premier League this summer as Tyler Dibling moved to Everton and then Mateus Fernandes moved to West Ham.
However, there are other players within that squad that were competing in the Premier League last season who want to make a swift return, be that through a move to another club or by securing promotion with the Saints this season.
Will Still has been appointed to achieve that, and he has brought in some additions to help the club achieve that; however, should they fail to achieve this, one player appears to have his heart set on a return to the Premier League, be that with Southampton or elsewhere.
Taylor Harwood-Bellis’ honest admission on his Southampton future
The England international has admitted to the Southern Daily Echo his thoughts on his future at Southampton after he remained at the club following the transfer deadline.
He wants to make a return to the Premier League, and while he said he would like to do it with Southampton, he did not rule out a move away from the club.
Harwood-Bellis said: “I want to get promoted out of this league. I don’t want to be playing in the Championship, so next season, clearly, I want to be in the Premier League.

“To do that, you’ve just got to get promoted. I’m pretty sure none of the boys want to play in the Championship, so there’s only one way of getting out of it.
“That’s the mentality of the group. We all tasted the Premier League last year, so the mentality has got to be that we need to get back there.”
The desire to revitalise his England career
Taylor Harwood-Bellis may be worrying about his England career after the relegation to the Championship with Southampton, having made one appearance for the Three Lions.
This came against the Republic of Ireland in November 2024, and he scored in the win, he will surely love to experience wearing an England shirt; however, that is unlikely in the Championship, and he will probably miss out on the World Cup in 2026.

Speaking about his England debut with the BBC, he said: “It is every young kid’s dream to make their debut for England, but to get a goal was magical.
“Playing for my country at every level is something I take great pride in. To play for the seniors is what dreams are made of. It is the pinnacle of football.”
