Sunderland defender Trai Hume continued his impressive form when netting the winner against the Lions on Saturday afternoon.

Sunderland’s 1-0 win over Millwall leaves them fourth in the Championship table and takes them a step closer to securing a play-off spot.

Regis Le Bris’ side are now 15 points clear of Middlesbrough in seventh position after 39 matches played as they seek a return to the Premier League.

Hume has particularly caught the eye this season, having joined Sunderland from Northern Irish club Linfield in January 2022. He made his debut a month later with the club then in League One.

It’s fair to say Sunderland fans are in disbelief that they were able to secure his services for such a low figure.

It’s little wonder the full-back has been the subject of such praise when taking a look at his performance vs Millwall.

Not only did Hume score the winner with a superb right-footed volley 20 minutes into the match, but he also showed his capabilities in defensive quarters.

The goal also marked the second time Hume has found the back of the net in a campaign where he has also recorded six assists in all competitions.

It’s therefore easy to see why Sunderland fans are so optimistic about his performances as they look to secure a Premier League return between now and May.
