Surprising development in MK Dons pursuit of Paul Warne

EFL Analysis can exclusively reveal that MK Dons are confident in their attempt to appoint Paul Warne as their new manager.

Warne is out of work since being sacked by Derby County earlier in the season, leaving them in the Championship relegation zone.

Despite that, the 51-year-old still remains an attractive prospect for clubs in the Football League – particularly for his previous work at Rotherham United.

It now seems that a quick return to management is on the cards.

MK Dons working to appoint Paul Warne as new manager

As revealed to EFL Analysis exclusively via TBR Football’s Chief Football Correspondent Graeme Bailey, League Two side MK Dons are ‘hopeful’ of appointing Warne as their new manager.

The Dons have made the former Derby boss their top target and are working to get him in before the end of the season and the surprising update comes days after Warne rejected the Dons’ initial advances.

Struggling in the fourth tier, MK Dons made the decision to sack manager Scott Lindsey earlier in the season, who in turn made a sensational return to Crawley Town in League One.

With only four games of the season remaining, they find themselves 19th in League Two but crucially nine points clear of the relegation zone, all but assuring their place in the Football League next season.

Who is the current MK Dons manager?

Since Lindsey’s departure in March an interim management team consisting of first team coach and former midfielder Ben Gladwin has been taking the reigns.

He has been joined by former Bournemouth midfielder and Welling United manager Jamie Day, who stayed on as an assistant Head Coach.

They will almost certainly see out the season now and if Warne is appointed, he will begin his preparations for the 25/26 campaign following the conclusion of this season.
