Middlesbrough have made an unbeaten start to the Championship under Rob Edwards, and this continued with the draw at the weekend with Preston North End.
Fans of the Teesside club may have been disappointed to see their club’s winning start to the season end; however, they will have been pleased by the character shown by Middlesbrough to get a late draw.
However, there will have been other reasons for the fans to celebrate, as even though the transfer window has closed, players are joining the fold at Middlesbrough.

Darragh Lenihan thanks Middlesbrough fans for their support throughout his injury period
The Republic of Ireland international made a return to action for Middlesbrough a week shy of the two-year anniversary since he received his injury.
While there had been attempts to get Darragh Lenihan back on the pitch prior to that, particularly in pre-season this campaign, he would have to wait until last weekend against Preston to make his return to the starting line-up competitively.
Now, he has thanked the Middlesbrough fans for their patience and support upon his return with Teesside Live.

He said: “It’s just great to be back. The main thing is being able to help the lads on the pitch. You can obviously do so much off the pitch, but you can never replicate what you can do on it.
“You keep working hard, and that’s what the fans love. I have to say, credit to the fans today. 5,600 here, give or take, and they were exceptional today. We’re all one big team, and we have to be like that for the whole season.”
Darragh Lenihan is encouraged by the Middlesbrough squad’s character under Rob Edwards
Lenihan was a vital player under former manager Michael Carrick while he was at Middlesbrough after joining from Blackburn Rovers, being described as ‘terrific’ in Teesside Live in January 2023 in a win over Birmingham City.
Now, the Republic of Ireland international is encouraged by the character being shown under Rob Edwards this season with Middlesbrough, as they look to battle for promotion back to the Premier League.

Speaking with Teesside Live, he said: “It was a crazy game, but it just shows the spirit and the character of the team. To concede late on but then still score another one… We knew how tough the game was going to be. They beat Leicester and Ipswich here, so we knew we had to be right up for it to get the three points.
“Obviously, today we didn’t manage to do that, but we’ll definitely take the point and move on. Looking more from the outside looking in over the last two years, we’ve built a special squad. We have a ‘never say die’ attitude, and I think that matches with Middlesbrough town.”
