Leeds United and Daniel Farke are eyeing promotion at the second attempt, with the Whites one of the most dominant second tier team this season.

Junior Firpo is a key part of Leeds’ new-look team under Daniel Farke, with Firpo and Jayden Bogle both praised for their Championship output this season by pundits recently.

Tanaka is one key player to have sparked debate, but another that has started a discussion this international break is Junior Firpo. The Dominican Republic international continues to impress since switching nationalities from Spain.

Firpo has already contributed to 12 goals in 25 Championship matches this term, but he operates as a forward for his national team. Firpo switched allegiances last year and has been deployed predominantly in attacking midfield, as a striker, or out wide.

It means he is one of their best and most dynamic players in attack, having scored four and assisted a further four in 11 appearances. That includes a latest goal in a 2-0 win over Puerto Rico earlier today, which Leeds fans are loving.

It perhaps highlights the frustration of many with Brenden Aaronson. The USMNT international has scored or assisted 10 goals this season, but that is not as many as Firpo in almost 900 more minutes as the club’s primary attacking midfielder and for the league’s most dominant team.

Junior Firpo could swing Leeds’ promotion chances further in their favour

Daniel Farke has an impressive record for Leeds, but the crunch of the season is where the Whites failed last term, which they will be desperate to avoid this time around.

By contrast, Burnley have a run-in that’s tougher than 17 other Championship clubs. For Leeds, keeping Firpo fit will also be essential in ensuring they remain as dominant as ever against the sides they are yet to face in the bottom half.
