Every club in football will have a talisman that they turn to; however, some crumble under the pressure of having to deliver for their side.

West Brom fans will be pleased that their talisman is thriving at being given the role for his international side, which should help the Championship side in their quest to return to the Premier League.

Ryan Mason has made an unbeaten start to his life as West Brom manager in the Championship, winning three of his opening four fixtures.

The Baggies boss has been able to rely upon one player in particular to help secure results for his club this campaign so far, so it is no surprise he has this attitude about being a talisman for his country.

Isaac Price relishing being a talisman for Northern Ireland

Isaac Price has revealed to the Belfast Telegraph that he is thriving as the talisman for Northern Ireland ahead of their fixture with Germany in the World Cup qualifiers.

While he did not score against Luxembourg in their opening win, he is hopeful of becoming a Northern Irish hero by helping the country beat Germany.

He said: “I like it. Scoring goals is what everyone wants to do. If I can be the person that helps us win games by doing that, that will be great, but the main goal for us is to win games.

“It doesn’t really matter who is scoring as long as the team is doing well. I love scoring goals, and I have a bit of a knack doing it with Northern Ireland, so I’ll look to keep doing it.”

West Brom’s start to the Championship season

The Baggies have made a good start to the Championship campaign, and this is partly down to the form of Isaac Price, with the Northern Irish international being pivotal to securing the wins against Blackburn Rovers and Wrexham.

Now, Price has opened up about how he feels about the start of the season with West Brom under Ryan Mason.

He said: “We have had a really positive start. We had a new manager in the summer, and there was a bit of a transition stage, but the first four games have been really good for us, and we’ve picked up a good few points, and we are just building on confidence now.

“The manager has come in, and his mind was clear about what sort of football he wanted to play and how he saw us getting in the top six and getting promoted. There is still a lot more that he wants to work on, and the ambitions are big.”
