Middlesbrough and Millwall face off at The Den in a Championship fixture on August 16.
Millwall narrowly missed out on the Championship play-offs last season after a spirited end to the campaign.
The Lions are expected to once again be in play-off contention in 2025/26 after a productive summer, which has included signing Josh Coburn from Middlesbrough permanently.
Like the Lions, Boro won on the opening day of the new Championship season.
However, Millwall are favourites against Middlesbrough, who they have a decent recent record against, despite not exactly being helped out by the referee in their last encounter.

Millwall vs Middlesbrough referee confirmed
The last meeting between the two sides took place on April 12, 2025, also at The Den.
It was a scrappy game that ended 1-0 in Millwall’s favour thanks to a 65th-minute effort from Camiel Neghli.
Before they eventually broke the deadlock earlier this year, however, Alex Neil’s side were denied what seemed a fairly clear penalty and maybe even a red card for Boro.
Early in the second half, Joe Bryan sent a free-kick into the Middlesbrough box, which fell into Macaulay Langstaff’s path for what probably should have been a tap-in. But the striker seemed to be clearly pulled back by Samuel Iling-Junior.
Despite this, no penalty was awarded, and there was no card shown to the Boro man.
The referee on the day was Tom Nield, whom the EFL have announced this week is once again set to take charge of the Millwall vs Middlesbrough fixture on Saturday.

Tom Nield record vs Millwall
Nield has taken charge of four Millwall fixtures during his career as a referee.
The East London outfit have won two of those matches, including the aforementioned meeting with the Teessiders.
The remaining two fixtures ended in draws and defeats for Millwall, with Nield showing five yellow cards in said games.
The referee has awarded one penalty to the Lions when overseeing their fixtures.
