Leicester City’s dream transfer window sees international star stay and Jamie Vardy replacement found

Leicester City are yet to get the ball rolling in the transfer window and also have off-pitch problems to deal with too.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s future at Leicester is uncertain and with the Foxes facing a potential points deduction, transfers will have to be done accordingly.

Jamie Vardy has also left Leicester and needs replacing while there are a host of stars who will leave after a second Premier League relegation in three years.

Despite the madness, many consider Leicester to be one of the favourites in the Championship promotion race but will need to start getting some players through the door.

So, as the 2025/26 season edges closer, EFL Analysis takes a look at what a dream transfer window would look like for Leicester.

Bilal El Khannouss stays at Leicester City

In a season of lows, Bilal El Khannouss was one of the few positives for Leicester. His arrival from Genk was a welcome one and the Morocco international lit up the stage.

He would easily be one of the best players in the Championship if he stays and is almost certainly the first name on the team sheet.

El Khannouss is admired by Arsenal but if he were to remain at the King Power Stadium, game time would be guaranteed and a chance to develop even further.

Leicester City offload high earners

Some Leicester players are on extortionate wages and need to be sold this summer.

The likes of Conor Coady, Wilfred Ndidi and Boubakary Soumare are all expected to be moved on and trim the wage bill significantly.

Not only does this free up more room in the squad, it will allow Leicester to begin the reset that is so desperately needed.

Leicester City find a Jamie Vardy replacement

The Foxes are going to have to navigate life without Vardy for the first time in 13 years. A striker is an absolute must and a non-negotiable for whoever is in charge.

Sam Greenwood has been linked with Leicester but he wouldn’t be deemed as an out-and-out replacement for Vardy.

Josh Sargent would be an ideal option but it seems the Norwich City forward is destined to reunite with Daniel Farke at Leeds United.

Brommapojkarna youngster Ezekiel Alladoh told Fotbollskanalen that he is glad that “major clubs” are interested but his age may mean he is an option for the future instead.

It’s the biggest signing the Foxes will make this season and they must get it right.
