Harry Amass enjoyed his best performance so far on loan from Manchester United in Sheffield Wednesday’s win at Portsmouth.

Sheffield Wednesday skipper Barry Bannan scored a free-kick in the first half, and youngster George Brown doubled their lead early in the second.

However, despite the captain and youngster putting their names on the scoresheet, it was Man Utd starlet Amass who shone brightest for the Owls.

Amass was exceptional both in and out of possession throughout the Championship clash, and with his stats highlighting how impressive he was, his parent club will be elated with the young full-back.

Stats show how good Harry Amass was for Sheffield Wednesday at Portsmouth

Sheffield Wednesday signed Amass in the summer window on loan, and the Red Devils prospect was thrown into the deep end in his first Championship start last weekend.

Amass struggled against the in-form Bristol City attack as Sheffield Wednesday fell to a 3-0 defeat.

On Saturday, however, Amass was in exceptional form to help inspire the Owls’ first league win of the season.

At Portsmouth, Amass impressed with the ball at his feet as well as performing his defensive duties admirably.

The 18-year-old was man-of-the-match at Fratton Park, creating one chance, enjoying a 100% dribble success rate and making eight clearances.

Owls head coach Henrik Pedersen has praised Amass since his arrival on loan from the Red Devils, and now the onus is on the youngster to continue his stellar form against Sheffield Wednesday’s upcoming tricky opponents.

Sheffield Wednesday face difficult clash against QPR

Buoyed by their win at Portsmouth, the Owls host QPR on Saturday, who beat in-form Stoke City at the weekend.

Former Chelsea prospect Harvey Vale was man-of-the-match against Stoke, scoring the winner in the 75th minute with a wonderful first-time finish.

R’s boss Julien Stephan started Vale on the right wing, meaning that if both he and Amass retain their places in the respective starting XIs, the two English starlets will go head-to-head on Saturday.

After proving himself at Pompey, Amass will be desperate to continue his form and nullify Vale to continue impressing the onlookers from Old Trafford.
