Leyton Orient take on Charlton Athletic in the League One play-off final, having been in impressive goalscoring form throughout the 2024/25 campaign.

Leyton Orient face Charlton Athletic in the League One play-off final on Sunday for a place in the Championship next season.

Charlton’s goalless draw against Wycombe Wanderers in the first leg was followed by a 1-0 Addicks win in the second leg to send Nathan Jones’ side to Wembley.

Orient won 4-1 on penalties to conclude their double header against Stockport County, after the two legs ended 3-3 on aggregate, to set up Sunday’s showpiece.

One of League One’s key metrics this season, in which Orient excel, will have Jones and his Addicks side terrified ahead of the season-defining fixture this weekend.

Leyton Orient statistics will terrify Charlton Athletic ahead of League One play-off final

Unsurprisingly, given their record-breaking 111 points tally, League One title winners Birmingham City topped the third tier for goals scored this season, with an outstanding total of 84.

Despite the headline-grabbing nature of scoring 84 goals in just 46 outings, the Blues recorded the highest number of goals scored by penalties, receiving 13 spot-kicks this season and dispatching 12 of those.

Sunday’s hopefuls Leyton Orient ended the regular campaign on 72 goals scored, with centre-forward Charlie Kelman topping the league’s goalscoring charts with 21 goals.

What makes Orient’s attack such a terrifying prospect for the Addicks is that only one of their 72 goals scored in the league this season came from 12-yards, in spite of finishing as League One’s second-highest top goalscoring outfit, behind the Blues.

Charlton have scored 67 goals in the league this season, with three of those being penalties.

Orient ace Kelman admitted his goal was offside against Stockport, but despite that, the QPR loanee has been in prolific form, scoring 21 goals (one penalty) in the regular League One season.

Kelman’s teammate Jamie Donley has been in equally impressive attacking form, topping League One’s assists chart, with ten assists and eight goals in 39 appearances this term during his loan stint from Spurs.

Orient boast League One’s second-best attack, behind only the Blues, but Charlton boss Jones has weapons in his ranks to combat their final opponents.

Charlton Athletic ace will be key to League One play-off final hopes vs Leyton Orient

Orient may possess one of League One’s best attacks this season, but Charlton will be well-equipped to deal with the threats of Kelman and Donley on Sunday in the League One play-off finale.

Conor Coventry could be key to securing victory in the final, after his outstanding campaign operating in defensive midfield for the Addicks.

Coventry has made more tackles at 127 than any other player in the division this season, by a margin of 16 within his 44 league appearances.

Jones has told Charlton’s media this season that Coventry is an “excellent footballer”, and the holding midfielder will need to be just that to keep the potent Orient attack at bay throughout the final.
