Sheffield Wednesday’s current situation has left a selection of players training away from the squad.
This summer, Sheffield Wednesday have been plagued with issues throughout the club, whether it be outstanding payments to players, staff, and even other clubs, to the lack of progress being made with pre-season.
Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl is absent from training as he awaits to be relieved of his duties, with the German clearly demanding a move away from S6. As a result, Henrik Pedersen has been taking training – a candidate to be Rohl’s successor this summer.
Unfortunately, not only do the players have no clarity on payments, but their pre-season schedule has also been significantly hampered by Sheffield Wednesday’s Middlewood Road training facilities being out of action, meaning that they have had to train at the Jubilee Sports Club.
The numbers at training have been rather light, however, with four notable faces absent as they train elsewhere.

Sheffield Wednesday stars take part in separate training from the club amid future uncertainty
As the majority of contracted Sheffield Wednesday players put in the hard yards at the SWFCCP Jubilee, there were some absentees from the pack, with out-of-contract pair Liam Palmer and Callum Paterson training at Woodbourn Road – they were alongside Jamal Lowe and Josh Windass after being pictured on social media.

Surprisingly, despite Barry Bannan now technically being a free agent, the Sheffield Wednesday legend has continued to train at the Jubilee Sports Club with the rest of the Owls squad.
Those pictured away from Sheffield Wednesday training likely believe, understandably, that their future will take them away from the Owls.

The mind-boggling issue surrounding the Owls’ pre-season schedule
Several concerns surround Sheffield Wednesday at this moment, to the point that pre-season is not even at the top of priorities for the hierarchy, as staff and players still wait for payment.
But going back to matters on the pitch, which is admittedly difficult to do with Sheffield Wednesday at this moment, they are yet to announce a single game in pre-season as they prepare for the 2025/26 Championship season.
Ahead of last season, there was much to look forward to for Rohl and the squad, who trained at St George’s Park before jetting off to Germany to notably play RB Leipzig.
Since the highs of last summer, everything has come crashing down, to the point it has even left effects on Sheffield Wednesday’s pre-season schedule, or lack thereof.
