Blackburn Rovers are looking to build on the good end to last season under Valérien Ismaël, with the performances of Tyrhys Dolan being key to helping the club come close to play-off qualification.
Rovers won four of their last five fixtures in the Championship season, with a win in their final game against Sheffield United needed to help them into the play-offs; however, they would only manage a 1-1 draw against the side managed by Chris Wilder at the time.
There have already been significant squad shifts at Ewood Park so far this summer transfer window, as Rovers have been busy making signings while a number of big names have left the club.
A number of Rovers players are still of interest to Championship rivals, including Lewis Travis, who had been linked to Derby County, while Callum Brittain had been the subject of exit rumours.

Tyrhys Dolan’s contract with Blackburn expired this summer, and while Rovers have offered him a contract extension, the attacker is exploring his options elsewhere.
However, as this continues to rumble on, it may be perceived that Dolan may have lofty ambitions regarding his ability.
Tyrhys Dolan may need to sign a contract with a Championship club
The 23-year-old has been the subject of much interest from rival Championship clubs, including Derby County.
Bristol City seem to be the newest club interested in the winger, with there being no transfer fee and the Robins hoping to build on their play-off campaign last season by bringing in one of the most promising players in the Championship.
However, now is the time for Dolan to accept a contract from one of the three options on the table, including the extension at Blackburn Rovers.

It has recently been reported that the Samsunspor president, Yuksel Yildirim, has publicly addressed the speculation linking them to Dolan.
He told the Turkish media that they were working to agree on a deal but were not willing to finance Dolan’s requests and that the English attacker has dreams of playing in the Premier League.
Yet, there have not been any offers touted about Dolan moving to the Premier League, so it may be time for him to accept an offer in the Championship, as it seems unlikely he will receive the offer he dreams of.
Tyrhys Dolan’s career at Blackburn Rovers
Dolan has been one of the most exciting talents in the Championship for the past few seasons; however, he has failed to be consistent across a full season.
The 23-year-old now needs to demonstrate that he can perform consistently across a campaign.
| 24/25 season | 2023/24 season | 2022/23 season | 2021/22 season | |
| Appearances | 47 | 39 | 49 | 36 |
| Goals | 7 | 5 | 6 | 5 |
| Assists | 6 | 4 | 7 | 3 |
| Yellow Cards | 12 | 8 | 4 | 6 |
| Red Cards | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
This may be why Premier League sides are not interested in him, as he no doubt has talent, but can he deliver week in and week out?
It is not an easy step up to the top division in England, as Jack Clarke found out with Ipswich Town last season, with the winger perhaps needing another campaign in the Championship before making the move.
Dolan may hold out for another period to see if there are any offers from the Premier League, but he would be better off signing a short-term deal and putting the work in to earn a bigger move to the English top flight in the coming seasons.
