Millwall and Wrexham will face off against each other for the first time in 24 years this weekend.

Both sides have had different starts to the season, with Millwall winning two of their first three games and Wrexham still waiting their first three points of the Championship campaign.

Their last meeting in 2001 was in very different circumstances in the Division Two fixture.

A number of Football League legends featured that day as the two played out a 1-1 draw, including Sean Dyche and a Swansea City legend.

Looking back at the two sides, there are plenty of recognisable faces from the two squads.

Everton hero Tim Cahill was on the scoresheet for Millwall while Craig Faulconbridge scored for the hosts.

Playing for Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground that day was also current Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson, as well as Kevin Russell and Swansea legend Lee Trundle.

Carlos Edwards, who would go on to play for Millwall, also played for Wrexham that day.

As for Millwall, Dyche was in the centre-back role alongside Steven Reid, and then up front was Steve Claridge and Lions legend Neil Harris.

That season would see Millwall crowned champions whereas Wrexham settled for ninth place.

Millwall vs Wrexham H2H

Although Millwall have spent the entirety of the last 24 years in a higher position, their record against Wrexham has been poor to say the least.

Across their 26 meetings, Millwall have only won six of those in comparison to the nine victories secured by Wrexham.

The remaining 11 have finished in draws but with Alex Neil’s side looking more than capable of being in the play-off picture, they will fancy their chances of winning at the New Den.
