Hull City aren’t having a quiet summer at all, and with the transfer window opening on Sunday, are planning to go after one of their targets.

Hull are close to appointing Sergei Jakirovic as their new manager, who will replace Ruben Selles despite the former Reading boss achieving the goal of keeping the Tigers in the Championship.

Jakirovic created Champions League history by recording the biggest defeat in the competition while in charge of Dinamo Zagreb, losing 9-2 to Bayern Munich.

Controversial owner Acun Ilıcalı will give Hull money to spend in the summer transfer window and already has his eyes set on one player.

John Lundstram linked with Hull City transfer

According to Turkish outlet Karadeniz Gazete, Hull are pondering a move for Trabzonspor midfielder John Lundstram.

Well-known for his time at Sheffield United, Lundstruaas been playing for the Turkish Super Lig side, who are also owned by Ilıcalı.

However, Lundstram has allegedly been informed that he won’t be in the club’s plans for next season and will be moved on, enabling Hull to swoop in.

Hull City owner wants to sign Lundstram for free

Currently, Lundstram is under contract at the Turkish giants and Hull would need to pay a fee to secure his services.

The Tigers don’t want to do that and as stated by the reports in Turkey, Ilıcalı is hoping that Trabzonspor cancel the 31-year-old’s contract early so that the Humberside club can sign him on a free.

That will rely on the Turkish club playing ball, but whether they decide to do that or not is another question.
