The future of Jobe Bellingham has been greatly debated over the course of the last nine months, and it looks as though his Sunderland career is about to come to an end this summer.
The teenager played his role in the Black Cats’ stunning Championship play-off final win on Saturday afternoon, with Sheffield United losing out to the Wearsiders at Wembley thanks to a superb Tommy Watson 95th minute winner.
Bellingham collapsed to the floor in pure ecstasy following the final whistle, before he celebrated in full vigour. His brother Jude Bellingham was quick to congratulate the 19-year-old, as Sunderland prepare for life in the Premier League for the first time since 2017.
Despite this, he looks to have played his final game in red-and-white stripes, and a move to Germany looks to be the order of the day – but not to the club that many expected.

Eintracht Frankfurt push to sign Jobe Bellingham
Borussia Dortmund have been a constant presence in the Bellingham family’s lives over the last few years following Jude’s move to the German giants from Birmingham City in 2020.

Dortmund are one of three clubs interested in Jobe as well, but after having a conversation with the young midfielder in April, they may be forced to wait as Eintracht Frankfurt are now in talks with the Sunderland ace about a deal, as per Sky Sports.
Just two days after winning promotion, the Black Cats star has travelled to Germany to speak to the club who finished third in the Bundesliga in 2024/25 – securing Champions League football in the process.
Bellingham wants to have his future sorted quickly, and he will choose his next destination this week, with RB Leipzig also waiting to hear from Sunderland’s number seven.
Sunderland will be extremely disappointed to lose the teenager
While the future of Bellingham has been a lingering question mark over the head of Regis Le Bris for the last few months, losing him will still be tough to take.
The 19-year-old has been influential in the middle of the park for Sunderland over the last two years, and he has shown a new maturity this season as his team climbed up the table and finished fourth before eventually running out as winners at Wembley.
Bellingham is destined to make a name for himself in the top flight, but after promotion was won, the Black Cats may have hoped they would have been able to keep hold of him. However, his future looks to be settled away from the Stadium of Light.
